Benchmark Research Center
AIM-HI takes the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center (SMIC) at North Carolina State University (NC State) in the United States as its benchmark. We continuously enhance our international research capabilities through diverse collaboration and exchanges, striving to meet our competitive goals each year.
During the execution of the first phase of the " Higher Education SPROUT Project," we were grateful for the evaluators' recommendations regarding our competition with the benchmarking center. In the second phase, we will continue the achievements of the first phase, aiming to compete with the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Center (SMIC) at NC State. SMIC applies smart manufacturing technologies across various industrial fields, assisting in the digital transformation of American industries, industrial IoT, and production line analysis planning. AIM-HI features a smart manufacturing environment where industry members can test smart manufacturing solutions.
NC State is a member of the Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CESMII) ecosystem alliance. CESMII was established in 2016 as a non-profit organization funded by the U.S. government and is a member of Manufacturing USA (MFG USA). MFG USA is an organization that builds public-private partnerships with 16 manufacturing institutions across the United States. It connects companies, academic institutions, non-profits, and local, state, and federal entities to address advanced manufacturing challenges related to new technology fields and industries. The goal is to enhance industry competitiveness, economic growth, and national security. CESMII is dedicated to promoting smart manufacturing (SM) through advanced and intelligent technologies, improving energy efficiency, equipment reliability, production rates, as well as safety, quality, and yield improvements in manufacturing processes.
Members of the Manufacturing USA CESMII ecosystem alliance include institutions such as Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), North Carolina State University (NC State), Purdue University, and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
