Talent Cultivation
AIM-HI has achieved the set goals in the four key areas: talent cultivation, academic research, international cooperation, and social contribution. The achievement status based on the common performance indicators of Ministry of Education and self-defined indicators of AIM-HI is as follows, showing that AIM-HI has met the target values set for each year.
Talent Cultivation
In the second year, we focus has been on deepening the international dimension of talent development and recruitment. Efforts include actively pursuing the Ministry of Education's "Promoting International Students to Taiwan and Retaining Talent Program - International Industrial Talents Education Special Program(INTENSE Program)- International Master Program in Smart Manufacturing, specifically aimed at the international smart manufacturing master’s program. Additionally, AIM-HI has continued to actively recruit outstanding young researchers from both domestic and international pools, with the goal of enhancing the academic and teaching quality and quantity, particularly in the area of cultivating talent for low-carbon, green smart manufacturing. The key talent cultivation initiatives this year include two main areas: actively recruiting excellent international talent and fostering high-level R&D personnel.
1. Efforts to Attract International Researchers:
In the year 2024, a total of 7 international researchers were recruited, including 6 from India and 1 from Iran. 5 of them were assistant researchers funded by CCU.
2. Actively cultivate outstanding international graduate students:
- Establishment of the International Master Program in Smart Manufacturing:AIM-HI implemented the Ministry of Education's initiative to promote international students coming to Taiwan and staying in Taiwan, specifically the "International Industry Talent Education Program." In March 2024, five online recruitment information sessions were held (for Thailand, Vietnam, India, etc.), attracting a total of 95 international students to apply. Following a review and online interviews (with five partner companies—LINCO Technology Co., Ltd, CHENBRO Micom Co., Ltd, Syntec Technology Co., Ltd, Quaser Machine tools Inc, and United Orthopedics..), 12 students were selected and admitted into the program. Ultimately, A total of 7 students completed the registration process. (4 from Thailand, 2 from India, and 1 from the Philippines). Further details of the online recruitment sessions are illustrated in the following image.
- Visiting Southeast Asian Countries for International Program Recruitment Activities(These overseas recruitment activities were funded by the CCU's funds): In 2024, AIM-HI participated in three international program recruitment fairs, which included the following:
- August 3-11: Visits to universities in Bangkok and Chiang Mai, Thailand
- August 27 - September 2: Participation in the Thailand Higher Education Fair
- November 2-9: Visits to universities in Hanoi, Vietnam
- December 1-7: Visits to universities in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
- Negotiating Talent Cultivation Collaborations
This year, AIM-HI launched its first International Master Program in Smart Manufacturing, and has proactively sought cooperation models for cultivating outstanding overseas students with several prominent Taiwanese companies, including Delta Electronics, Wistron Corporation, and WiWynn Corporation. In addition, by the end of the year 2024, AIM-HI had jointly applied—with industry partners such as JPC connectivity Inc., Chenbro Micom Co., Ltd., QUASER Machine Tools, Inc., HIWIN Technologies Corp., hiPower Hydrogen Technology Co., Ltd, LINCO Technology Co., Ltd., Syntec Technology Co., Ltd., and Hephas Energy Corporation—to establish a new international master program for the fall semester of 2024. This application was approved by the Ministry of Education by the end of 2024, and recruitment is expected to begin in the first half of 2025. Meetings with some of the partner companies were conducted online, as shown in the figure below. - Establishment of an All-English Master Program and Implementation of the TEEP International Internship Program: An all-English master program has been established, currently enrolling 11 students from various countries, including Taiwan, India, Thailand, Oman, the Philippines, and Vietnam. Furthermore, to promote international research collaboration and academic exchange, the College of Engineering and AIM-HI have continued to implement the TEEP (Taiwan Experience Education Program) internship initiative. In year 2024, a total of 153 international interns from 14 countries were recruited. Participating students came from Vietnam, Thailand, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Colombia, Germany, the Czech Republic, Rwanda, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, and Iran—demonstrating this program’s international appeal and impact.
3. Cultivation of Professional Master and Ph.D. Researchers and Industry-Academic Doctoral Students in Advanced Manufacturing Systems:
Year 2024, AIM-HI has cultivated and recruited a total of 17 master and Ph.D. to join the team. Regarding the Industry-Academic Doctoral Program, AIM-HI has previously collaborated with companies such as ARIETEM Co., Ltd., FACTORY Automation Technology Co., Ltd., LNC Technology Co., Ltd., ITRI, PMC, Chiayi Christian Hospital, and TOYO Automation Co., Ltd. In the 2024, two new students were admitted to the Industry-Academia Ph.D. Program.
4. Fostering International Research Experience Among Students and Young Researchers:
To encourage students to attend international conferences and participate in global competitions to present key research outcomes and enhance international academic exchange, AIM-HI has made the "AIM-HI Grant Regulations for Attending International Conferences" at National Chung Cheng University. In 2024, a total of 26 individuals had international exchange experience.
5. Collaboration on the “International Industrial Talents Education Special Program(INTENSE Program)” and the “International Master Program in Smart Manufacturing”:
AIM-HI launched the "Advanced Green and Low-Carbon Seed Faculty Training Workshop", which included visits to Taiwan’s only green energy technology demonstration site—the Shalun Smart Green Energy Science City—offering participants opportunities for collaboration and exchange. Additionally, AIM-HI established a "Green and Low-Carbon Program Credit Course", offering eight courses related to net zero emissions in 2024, with a total enrollment of 232 students.
6. Collaboration with TSMC Semiconductor Program:
