Industry–Academia Collaboration

Through long-term collaboration with the industry, AIM-HI has successfully transformed academic research results into key technologies to be applied in the industry. To further strengthen the industry–academia collaboration tie, AIM-HI invites prominent domestic leaders in this industry to form an advisory board and holds regular meetings to discuss the current statuses and future developments of precision machinery, thereby reaching consensus between the industry and academia and narrowing the gap between academic training and industrial applications.

By continually participating in various industry–academia collaboration projects on research and development, such as large-scale and small-scale industry–academia collaboration projects funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology, industry–academia alliances, the Academic Technology Development Program initiated by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and industry–academia projects hosted by enterprises, AIM-HI has produced a substantial number of feasible patents and accumulated considerable profits from licensing fees for technology transfer, demonstrating the institute’s ample achievements and high level of recognition from the industry. Furthermore, AIM-HI plans to establish an industry–academic–research institute alliance by forming an interactive communication network among domestic enterprises and research institutes in this field. AIM-HI also seeks collaboration with world-renowned international partners, such as Acellent Technologies (USA), the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd., and 3D-Micromac AG (Germany), to engage in bilateral or multilateral projects in an attempt for Taiwan to keep up with international manufacturing standards.
